The thought of losing your passport while you’re on holiday is a daunting one, but sadly it is a reality for many vacationers. Amidst the chaos and stress of losing your passport, we do not want you to worry about the financial aspect of the ordeal, hence the inclusion in our travel insurance policy!
Here are some useful information to help you organise emergency travel documents and make a claim on your travel insurance if you lose your passport or have your passport stolen when you are abroad.
What to do if your passport is lost or stolen:
Always report the loss or theft of your passport to the local police of the country you are visiting and obtain a police report as soon as possible. This is usually needed to obtain replacement travel documents and to make a successful claim on your travel insurance.
Contact the nearest Seychelles Embassy or Consulate. They should be able to issue emergency travel documentation to enable you to return back to the Seychelles. In the absence of both, contact the Consular Affairs Section at the Department of Foreign Affairs
If applicable, complete the form to cancel your missing passport. (This is important to prevent identity theft which is a growing crime)
Call the number provided in your travel insurance policy. You will be assisted either with the help of finding and securing your lost passport or the cost of refund in relation to getting a new passport.
*Once you are back in the Seychelles, contact us to recoup the cost of your emergency documentation, up to the amount shown in your policy schedule. You will need to supply a police report and evidence of the cost of any emergency documentation.
